It’s easy to get caught up in the stress of life, especially now
Between the pandemic, upcoming holidays, work, and family obligations, it’s easy to understand why you may feel overwhelmed. When you find yourself consumed by stress and anxiety it often feels like you’ll stay that way forever. The good news is, you don’t have to. Sometimes you need to take a break and do something fun to take your mind off of your troubles.
When your thoughts are overcome with feelings of depression or anxiety, it can be hard to think of fun things to do. I get it. So, today I wanted to offer up five fun fall activities you can do in the Germantown area to cope with stress.
Go to a Park in Germantown, TN
There are so many parks around Germantown, TN. There’s something for anyone regardless of whether you’re going alone or with your family.
For sports lovers, there’s Cameron Brown and C.O. Franklin Park. Each with its own soccer fields and basketball courts. Municipal park has great sand volleyball courts. Last, check out the 18 hole disk golf course. Pursue at Johnson Road Park for a fun time!
You can find my favorite walking trails and lakes at Howard McVay Park.
My family’s favorite playgrounds can be found at Dogwood and Farmington Parks. But, the real show stopper is Everybody’s Treehouse at Riverdale Park!
Listen to Some Good Music
No matter your taste, there’s plenty of good music to find right here in Germantown! Check out the indoor concerts at the Germantown Performing Arts Center. Or consider an outdoor concert at The Grove GPAC.
Exercise
Taking care of your health and wellbeing plays an important part in coping with your anxiety. One powerful way to relieve stress is exercise. Now, I’m not saying you must run five miles every day or anything like that. Just getting your body moving can help you cope with anxiety. My favorite place to get exercise is the Germantown Athletic Club. Here you’re sure to find an athletic activity you enjoy. In addition to a stellar fitness area and cardio floor, there's a beautiful pool with eight lap lanes. There's also an indoor walking track, racquetball courts, and an indoor basketball court. Plus, there’s a wide variety of fitness classes for every interest and a child care center for your littles.
Family Fun in Germantown, TN
If you’re looking for a free family activity, I encourage you to take a trip to the Germantown Community Library. Enjoy sitting down with your kiddos and reading a good book. Or, check out the variety of age-appropriate activities they have available to you. They also have great storytimes that are sure to engage both you and your kids.
Enjoy Farm Life
One of my favorite local places is Bobby Lanier Farms. Here you’ll find a community garden and a wonderful farmers market. There’s also a great children’s discovery garden where kids can explore all the farm has to offer. Check out their events calendar for even more farm fun!
I hope this list will provide you with some inspiration to get out and about in Germantown this fall. Doing fun things and visiting new places is a great way to boost your mood and combat stress.
