Trust is the cornerstone of any therapeutic relationship. One way a counselor can earn their clients’ trust is by being respectful of their clients’ values. Sadly, there are some Catholics who do not try therapy. They are afraid that secular counseling approaches will have a negative influence on their connection or undermine their faith. This is one of the primary reasons why I started Vitus Counseling! I'm a passionate Catholic, licensed professional counselor, and member of catholictherapists.com and the Catholic Psychotherapy Association. I provide Catholic clients with research-based therapy that is grounded in the Catholic faith.
Individual Catholic Counseling
Perhaps, you are a Catholic dealing with anger, personal problems, or self-esteem issues, or you have suffered a recent loss and are grieving. Maybe, you are a Catholic who is struggling with emotional and mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, or addiction. I offer individual counseling services that address and treat all these issues. Ultimately, my goal is to help my Catholic clients to grow in virtue, fully live out their vocation, and experience God’s healing kindness.
Catholic Couples Counseling
Perhaps, you and your spouse keep having the same hurtful arguments over and over again. Or, you do not trust your spouse or feel as close as you once did. You feel stuck and you are in pain. I offer couples counseling services that help couples to solve solvable problems like these. We work on communicating effectively, navigating conflict productively, and increasing overall marital intimacy and satisfaction. My goal is to provide my Catholic couples with high-quality marriage therapy that will strengthen their marital bond. Therapy will help you and your partner to become a safe harbor for one another while honoring Mother Church’s teaching on the sacrament of marriage.
Catholic Family Therapy
Maybe, your teenager is experimenting with or abusing drugs, or is always defying your authority and lying to you. Perhaps, your family simply struggles with discussing feelings in an open and helpful way. I offer several important family therapy services. These include teaching family members how to set boundaries and coaching parents in positive discipline techniques. Most importantly, I provide family therapy interventions that are grounded in a Catholic understanding of the family. These interventions empower Catholic families to more faithfully build up the domestic church.
